Man United prepared to sell ‘unhappy’ star for just €20M in January

Manager Erik ten Hag has been using the Frenchman as a substitute in the last several games in all competitions, preferring Harry Maguire to play in the right center of defense.

Varane is not seen effective enough by the Dutch strategist as a left center-back. Recently, he has favored players like Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans over himself.

The manager now has an additional alternative for the position since Luke Shaw has recovered from a muscular ailment, which could raise doubts over Varane’s future at United.

According to Plettenberg, Varane is “unhappy” with his current circumstances, and United is aware of this.

They are willing to grant permission for a winter trip, but they will not consider loan proposals. Right now, the 2018 World Cup champion is worth between €20 and €30 million.

Raphael Varane 'set to leave Man United in summer' and tipped for move to Italy or Saudi Arabia | talkSPORT

The former Real Madrid defender is being watched by Bayern Munich, but further information is currently unavailable. It’s unlikely that the German champions will match his present weekly salary.

The 30-year-old isn’t guaranteed to start for the Red Devils anymore, so it wouldn’t surprise us if he thought about leaving Manchester in the New Year.

As Bayern is currently unable to pay his €20 million yearly wage, we believe that the center back would be better off moving to the Saudi Pro League.

A number of elite players have received large salaries from Saudi clubs, and Varane could easily quadruple his pay if he were to join the league this winter.

United would be able to obtain a good transfer fee throughout the process, which would aid them in their efforts to find a suitable replacement. Jean-Clair Todibo of Nice seems to be the main objective.

For €40 million, the 23-year-old may be signed. After obtaining his minority ownership at the club, Sir Jim Ratcliffe is ready to provide financial support, so United should be able to afford him.
