Midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai revealed he had a conversation with Man City superstar Erling Haaland before coming to Liverpool.
Dominik Szoboszlai and Erling Haaland were teammates at RB Salzburg. Haaland then moved to Dortmund and Szoboszlai moved to play for RB Leipzig. Both played prominently in the Bundesliga before having the opportunity to play in the Premier League.
Erling Haaland landed at Man City for a fee of 51 million pounds in the summer of 2022. He quickly integrated and became one of Man City’s irreplaceable players. As for Dominik Szoboszlai, he came to Liverpool this summer for a fee equivalent to Haaland’s transfer to Man City. The Hungarian player has also integrated well with Liverpool, and is also being used by coach Klopp at the Port City team.

The pair are close friends off the field and currently live quite close to each other in England. The two will clash for the first time when Liverpool visit the Etihad this weekend. Szoboszlai recently revealed that he had a conversation with Haaland before coming to Liverpool. He told the BBC:
“We were really close because we were both young. Haaland is a great player and a great guy. At that time I had not yet officially signed with Liverpool, I sent him a picture of a Liverpool shirt and he was really surprised.”
“Then I said that’s it, we’ll meet. Haaland then said congratulations, the Premier League is crazy.”
