Manchester United return to action on Sunday when they travel to Everton.
The Red Devils haven’t played since a 1-0 win over Luton Town before the international break, when Victor Lindelof scored in the second half. That was United’s fourth win in five Premier League games, a run that has propelled them to sixth place in the rankings.
And United manager Erik ten Hag will be hoping for another success at Goodison Park, despite the fact that Everton’s recent form suggests it will be a difficult test. Sean Dyche’s team has won three of their past five league games, but they were deducted ten points last week for failing to meet Premier League profit and sustainability regulations. Here is the most recent Old Trafford news.
United could be without Aaron Wan-Bissaka for the next nine games after the Democratic Republic of Congo approached him about playing for them in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Wan-Bissaka has three under-21 caps for England but has never played for the senior team, with Kyle Walker, Reece James, Kieran Trippier, and Trent Alexander-Arnold all ahead of him in the pecking order.
According to The Athletic, DR Congo is attempting to take advantage of his lack of opportunities with England by luring him to play for them at ACFON in January. ACFON is expected to begin on January 13, with Congo joining Zambia, Morocco, and Tanzania.
Ten Hag would suffer a setback if Wan-Bissaka would not compete, since he is also expected to lose Andre Onana to the competition as he prepares to fight with Cameroon.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka could play for the Democratic Republic of the Congo in AFCON.
United manager Ten Hag is hopeful his team can maintain their good road record as they prepare for three away games in seven days.
The Red Devils have won three of their previous four away games, with their lone defeat coming in the Champions League against Copenhagen. “All games are very important, but our away record this season so far is very good,” Ten Hag went on to say. “We can go into those games with confidence and strong belief.” But we have to play game by game, and the first game is the most important – Everton – which we are looking forward to.”
When asked if United will be able to endure hostile receptions as they prepare to visit Everton, Galatasaray, and Newcastle, Ten Hag responded, “You could see that this team has personality and character in hostile environments, like in Copenhagen.”
“We’re dealing with it. I’m at ease when I’m not at home. We’re about a third of the way through the season. As we’ve seen, it was a difficult start, but I believe we’re catching up. We’ve won four of the last five games. So we’re in a good attitude, and I believe we’re on the right track.
“I believe we’re building confidence ahead of that intense program in December.” We’re developing strong convictions as well as some habits. Now we’re hoping to keep the same lineup, or at least 12 to 14 players, because that’s been our biggest challenge thus far. We had to change every time, and we didn’t build routines.”
