At TD Garden on Wednesday night, the Celtics displayed an unusual alley-oop combination.
Jaylen Brown is no stranger to dunks, but in Boston’s victory over Milwaukee, the All-Star wing did the honors of dunking for a teammate. And it wasn’t done by Jayson Tatum, Kristaps Porzingis, or Al Horford. It was Sam Hauser who later admitted that he hadn’t seen an alley-oop since his senior year in high school.
Brown explained how the unexpected highlight came to be after Boston’s 119-116 victory.
“I looked at him, and he looked at me, and that was all the confirmation I needed,” Brown told reporters, according to NBC Sports Boston video. “We locked gazes, and I exclaimed, ‘(Expletive) it.'” He looked at me like he was ready, so I tossed it to him, and he took it. So, kudos to Sam.”
Brown’s lob to Hauser was one of his eight assists on the night. The two-time All-Star also led the C’s in scoring with 26, helping his team get back into the win column.
Brown, Hauser, and company will try to keep the momentum going when the Celtics play their last group stage in-season tournament game in Orlando on Friday afternoon. The game will begin at 2:30 p.m. ET from the Amway Center.
