Wesley Fofana is back in training at Chelsea following a lengthy injury

Wesley Fofana, a defender for Chelsea, has resumed limited training as he continues to recuperate from a major knee injury.

The center back had surgery to rebuild his anterior cruciate ligament, which has kept him out of action since the summer.

The Frenchman suffered a serious blow from the setback since he was sidelined for a large portion of the 2022–23 season owing to injuries.

In his first season after moving from Leicester City to Chelsea in a £70 million deal in 2022, Fofana was limited to 22 competitive appearances.

There were concerns that the Frenchman will miss the entire 2023–24 season due to his most recent injury.

But after stepping up his rehabilitation on Thursday by returning to light exercise, Fofana has now given Chelsea a boost.

Chelsea used the hashtag “back on the grass” in their social media posts including images of Fofana during light training.

In addition to greeting and conversing with Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino, the 22-year-old was also seen sprinting in the pictures that were posted on Twitter and Instagram.

With the hashtag “back on track” on his Instagram post, the France international highlighted the success.

Although Fofana’s recuperation seems to be doing well, it’s still not certain when he’ll be prepared to resume intense training.

Among the other injured players Pochettino must deal with are Marcus Bettinelli, Trevoh Chalobah, Carney Chukwuemeka, and Ben Chilwell.

For Saturday’s away game against Newcastle United, Levi Colwill, Malo Gusto, Romeo Lavia, and Christopher Nkunku are also doubtful.

With 16 points from 12 games, the Blues are currently in 10th place in the league, having only lost one of their six games.
