It appears that experienced defender Thiago Silva may soon leave because there are questions regarding his contract renewal. As a result, The Blues are considering Tomori, a past academy graduate, to replace the Brazilian.

For a cost of £26 million, Tomori successfully concluded a permanent move from Chelsea to Milan in 2021. Since then, the 25-year-old has gained notoriety in Italy. He contributed magnificent performances to the Rossoneri’s Serie A championship in 2021–2022, as well as their run to the Champions League semifinals the previous season.

According to a May 90min report, Tomori would be amenable to returning to the Premier League since he feels it would help him achieve his goal of getting more minutes and being a regular for the England national team.

Tomori’s deal at San Siro runs until 2027, and Transfermarkt values him at £34 million.

Return to Chelsea?

Since Todd Boehly’s consortium took over, the Blues have lavished money on center backs. Axel Disasi, Wesley Fofana, Benoit Badiashile, Ishe Samuel-Smith, and Kalidou Koulibaly, who has permanently joined Al-Hilal, are just a few of the players who were signed for more than €200 million.

Tomori gained significant experience in the much more physically demanding Italian League, helping Milan to the League title and leading a wild run to the Champions League semi-finals.

Tomori wants to play regularly for the England national team, and Todd Boehly is willing to spend big, so it’s thought Chelsea can afford to pay the £34 million asking price to bring Tomori back to the team he grew up at.
