After returning from his second Championship loan stint of the season, Tyler Morton has promised to make his way into Liverpool’s senior squad the next year.
Having already gained the admiration of Jurgen Klopp and formed a strong friendship with Harvey Elliott, a standout player for Liverpool, the England youth international is quite the possibility.
After making an impression while on loan at Hull City, Morton has now expressed his desire to play for Jurgen Klopp’s first team in an interview with the Liverpool Echo.
“They’re a fantastic team and I’m excited to get back there. Yeah, I hope so [on if playing for England’s U-21s could help him break into Liverpool’s first team].
“That’s the long run. I’m kind of a realistic type of person and I think about the now (at Hull). But that would be lovely and is where I want to be.”
Given that Thiago Alcantara is expected to depart Liverpool in the summer, a midfield slot may become available for a young player hoping to break into the Premier League.
And Morton, a 21-year-old who made his Liverpool debut two seasons ago under Klopp, may be the ideal candidate for such a role given his high regard currently at the club.
Although he may need a significant push in his growth, Morton has demonstrated enough in his short senior career to be a star in the Premier League.
And Morton may be well on his way to becoming the next academy product to establish himself as a regular in this current Liverpool team, as the midfielder is now assured of his ability to make the jump to the first team.
