Mason Mount’s difficult debut season at Manchester United since his £55 million transfer from Chelsea will be made more difficult by a protracted absence owing to a recent injury setback.

The midfielder is still without a goal for Erik ten Hag’s squad and has only contributed one assist across all competitions as he struggles to get used to life at Old Trafford.

The 24-year-old has struggled with several injury issues this season, which has kept him out of six Red Devil games. Unfortunately, Ten Hag is once again without one of his important additions as Manchester United gets back into action following the international break.

According to The Mirror, Mount’s most recent setback is a calf issue, which will likely prevent him from playing for a few weeks and cause him to miss the upcoming month.

His absence is definite for United’s match against Everton and Galatasaray in the Champions League, both of which are critical to the team’s chances of winning the league.

Without Mount, United will now have difficult matches against Newcastle, one of the top four contenders, and a resurgent Chelsea.

According to SofaScore, the English international has only started four times for the Red Devils in the Premier League and has averaged just 51 minutes per game. This highlights his appalling start to life at his new club, as he has yet to score or record an assist.
