It happened after the two Premier League titans drew 1-1 at the Etihad Stadium this afternoon.
Erling Haaland gave the Premier League champions the lead early in the second half, but Trent Alexander-Arnold leveled late on to clinch a draw for the Reds.
Following the tie, Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp were spotted shaking hands immediately after the final whistle.
Nunez, 24, then approached the City manager, evidently upset about something, and the two engaged in a heated exchange of words.

‘There appear to be some harsh words being exchanged,’ Peter Drury, who was on commentary duty for the match, said as the fight unfolded.
‘Darwin Nunez had a heated argument with Pep Guardiola. They needed to be apart.’
As previously said, Haaland gave City the lead in the first half. His goal broke Andy Cole’s Premier League record by 17 games, making him the fastest player to reach fifty Premier League goals.
The Norwegian sensation’s well-taken opening against the Reds is his 50th league goal since joining Manchester City for £51 million in 2022.
He has done so in only 48 league matches, smashing Manchester United striker Andy Cole’s previous record of 65.

Man City were eventually held to a draw by Liverpool, thanks to a superb strike from Alexander-Arnold.
Despite the draw at home against Klopp’s team, City remain the league leaders. Arsenal, led by Mikel Arteta, may go top with a win over Brentford this evening.
Liverpool are second in the Premier League, one point behind the champions. The Merseyside club will play LASK on Thursday before meeting Fulham at Anfield in their next league match.
