Jurgen Klopp separated Darwin Nunez and Pep Guardiola during a violent full-time brawl

At full-time, Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez and Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola had to be separated.

Jurgen Klopp’s team managed to snare a thrilling draw against the Treble winners from last season. Trent Alexander-Arnold’s 25-yard effort cancelled out Erling Haaland’s first-half goal, which was also his record 50th Premier League goal in 48 games.

Ironically, this match was devoid of controversy, with neither team being on the receiving end of any disputed decisions. However, tensions appeared to peak when the final whistle blew.

When Klopp and Guardiola hugged at the end of the game, Nunez appeared to speak to the ex-Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss. It was unclear what the Uruguayan striker said to City manager Pep Guardiola, but whatever it was, it irritated the Catalan.

Guardiola was led away by one of Klopp’s aides, while Nunez was wrapped in a protective bear embrace by the ex-Borussia Dortmund manager. After moving the former Benfica attacker away from Guardiola, Klopp approached his familiar foe for another word.

Finally, the situation concluded with both Premier League managers on the sidelines smiling and laughing with each other. Guardiola’s final interaction with Klopp was, if anything, the most composed he shown throughout the game.

Guardiola was spotted crouching down by his bench in anxiety as Liverpool clawed their way back into the game. The worried and nervous expression on his face did not fade, as he appeared to sense Liverpool was planning a return.

City now leads the Premier League, but if Arsenal defeats Brentford, they would slide to second. Meanwhile, Liverpool maintained second, but might drop to fourth if Arsenal and Tottenham both win their games against the Bees and Aston Villa, respectively.

With the top four so close, there is a sense in the Premier League that it will be another title struggle between Liverpool and City. If Nunez and Guardiola’s exchange is any indication, there is still a lot of thread between the two sides.
