Manchester United return from international duty this weekend to face Everton.
The Toffees have been relegated after being fined 10 points for breaking FFP rules. They will be hoping for a decent performance in front of their home crowd at Goodison Park, so the Red Devils must be mindful of an upset.
Ten Hag’s squad is off to their worst start to a season since the 1960s, but the Dutchman will not be on the bench on Sunday since he was suspended after receiving his third caution in the 1-0 win over Luton. Previous cautions were issued in games against Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.
The following is the expected lineup for Sunday’s game:
André Onana is anticipated to reclaim his starting spot. He has not missed any United games, however he was forced to miss Cameroon’s internationals owing to a shoulder injury.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka did not play against Luton Town, but a break from international duty while he considers changing nationality to DR Congo means he should be fit and ready to go.
Victor Lindelof should start ahead of Raphael Varane, who appears to be unpopular with manager Erik Ten Hag at the moment. Jonny Evans, who has recently constituted one half of Ten Hag’s preferred duo, is also out.
After a streak of starts, Harry Maguire’s redemption arc is in full swing, and he is anticipated to continue his resurrection in the starting lineup.
Sergio Reguilon is set to start, but will have to watch his back in the coming days as Luke Shaw returns to first team training for the first time in three months.
In the middle of a midfield injury problem, Sofyan Amrabat should start as the team’s holding midfielder.
Scott McTominay is anticipated to start as part of a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Christian Eriksen out for a month and Mason Mount suffering an injury that will keep him out for a month as well.
Facundo Pellistri, who impressed for Uruguay during the international break, might get his debut. In his most recent appearance for United, the winger assisted.
Bruno Fernandes had a near-perfect and trouble-free stint with Portugal, scoring in their most recent match against Iceland. The captain will be in command of the defense against Everton’s counter-attack.
Antony could expect to start because Marcus Rashford has withdrawn from Gareth Southgate’s team’s internationals.
In the absence of Rasmus Hojlund, who is not yet fit to play for United, Anthony Martial is expected to make a rare Premier League start at the top. If Marcus Rashford is ruled out, the Frenchman will undoubtedly lead the line.
Expected lineup: André Onana, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Sergio Reguilon, Sofyan Amrabat, Scott McTominay, Facundo Pellistri, Bruno Fernandes, Antony, Rasmus Hojlund.
