Bruno Fernandes revealed the reason for letting Marcus Rashford take the penalty

The MU captain took practical actions to help his juniors regain confidence this season.

In the 56th minute of the match against Everton, MU received a penalty when Anthony Martial was fouled by Ashley Young inside the 16m50 box. In theory, Bruno Fernandes will take on the responsibility of finishing. However, he decided to cede it to Marcus Rashford.

Under a lot of pressure, Marcus Rashford still took a shot into the top corner, causing Jordan Pickford to lose his hand. Sharing after the match, Bruno Fernandes admitted that he wanted to help the player born in 1997 regain his confidence.

“He needs that penalty and he is a very good shooter, I am confident Rashford will succeed. Both center forwards and wing strikers need goals to gain mental strength. Last season, Rashford played explosively, so expectations this year will be higher,” the MU captain shared with Sky Sports.

“I’m really happy to help Rashford gain more confidence. He can face anyone. Today, you saw Rashford become a threat to Everton once again,” Bruno Fernandes added.

After a series of poor matches, MU strikers spoke up. Besides Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho also made his mark with his masterpiece. In the 75th minute, Anthony Martial scored a 3-0 win for the red half of Manchester.
