Following his magnificent goal in Sunday’s 3-0 victory over Everton at Goodison Park, Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes quipped that Alejandro Garnacho is not yet a “great player.”

After just three minutes, Garnacho, who was given his third consecutive start in the Premier League, scored the game’s opening goal with an extraordinary acrobatic effort that eluded Toffees goalkeeper Jordan Pickford. The Argentine international delivered a phenomenal performance; it is highly improbable that he will ever score a more impressive goal in his career.

The teenager, who was retreating from the penalty area, made contact with Diogo Dalot’s cross from the right flank and directed his effort into the far corner of the net. Unsurprisingly, his comrades surrounded him in jubilation.

Although the objective was appropriately the focal point of his day’s efforts, his overall performance was quite promising. Each time he obtained the ball, he posed a danger by striving to create opportunities within the final third.

With any luck, he will attempt to use his accomplishment and the performance as motivation in the future months and weeks. Additionally, Fernandes acknowledged having lofty expectations.

“I give him a good note just for the goal, but that is just because he knows that I have big expectations for him,” Fernandes told Sky Sports. “He is a great player. [In fact], he is not a great player yet, but he has a great future ahead.

“We expect a lot from him, he knows that. He knows that I am always going to be behind him asking for more. It was an amazing goal.”

As the Premier League’s designated Man of the Match, Garnacho was presented with his accolade subsequent to the match’s post-match interview. However, Fernandes was not enthusiastic about relinquishing it to his colleague.

He humorously stated: “I don’t think he deserves [it], but okay!”
