Fabregas’s wife denied Messi had an affair

Daniella Semaan, wife of Cesc Fabregas and close friend of Lionel Messi’s wife, confirmed that the news that the Argentine superstar had an affair with a female journalist was fabricated.

On November 25, Brazilian newspaper Direto Do Miolo posted on social network X information that Messi cheated on his wife with fellow female reporter Sofia Martinez. This newspaper even said that the situation was so tense that the 15-year relationship between Messi and his wife Antonella Roccuzzo was at risk of breaking down.

“This information is not true and makes no sense,” Daniella Semaan – Cesc Fabregas’s wife – responded to an Instagram post about Messi’s affair allegations. Semaan said she and her husband are close friends with Messi’s family. They and striker Luis Suarez’s family have often vacationed together over the years, maintaining a close friendship.

Some Argentine newspapers last month also reported that Messi is in love with a woman “not Antonella”. Reporter Sofia Martinez interviewed Messi when he won the Golden Ball on October 17. She was also present with Messi during the campaign to conquer the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, conducting a live interview with Messi after the semi-final match with Croatia.

Martinez said it wasn’t the first time she was rumored to be flirting with Argentinian players. The female reporter said she has a good relationship with the players, including Messi – the national team captain. This helps her conduct many interviews with a more comfortable and approachable attitude. Martinez also said he had talked to Messi’s wife and admired the way Antonella handled rumors surrounding the family.

Martinez once interviewed Messi when he was focusing on the Argentina team.

Messi and Antonella met when they were 5 years old, fell in love as teenagers and got married in 2017. They currently live in the US with their three sons Thiago, Mateo and Ciro. Messi signed a contract to play for Inter Miami until 2025 last July. He just played his last match this year for Argentina in a 1-0 win over Brazil on November 22. Messi has a few months off, before the new MLS season kicks off in February 2024.
