Raphael Varane of Manchester United is allegedly undecided about heading to the Saudi Pro League if an offer is made.

Manchester United: more bad news for Raphaël Varane!

Varane has fallen out of favor at Old Trafford in recent weeks. Erik ten Hag has chosen Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans over the Frenchman.

When questioned about this, Ten Hag denied any schism and stated the choice was just tactical. According to MEN Sport, the Dutchman wants to sign a new center-back but must first sell one. This has fueled suspicion that Varane may be on the chopping block.

Varane, however, is not so anxious for playing time that he would jump at the chance to relocate to the Middle East, according to The Athletic. The contract of the 30-year-old at the Theatre of Dreams expires in 2025, but United may want to cash in on him sooner.

Bayern Munich is also said to be interested in signing Varane. According to FCB Inside, their manager Thomas Tuchel is expected to press for a deal after seeing his talents when managing Chelsea.

A transfer might be completed in January, which is said to be a ‘win-win’ situation for all parties concerned. A fee of between £21m and £26m is seen to be sufficient in Germany to entice United to sell, but there remains a stumbling block.

Varane’s salary are characterized as a ‘problem’ for Bayern, who will almost certainly ask him to take a pay cut. Similarly, the defender’s injury record is said to be a source of concern, preventing the Bavarian club from spending large sums on his wages.
