Chelsea have already decided the asking price for Kepa Arrizabalaga

Chelsea are eager to offload Kepa Arrizabalaga and will seek €25 million for the 29-year-old goalkeeper, according to Fichajes. After an injury to Thibaut Courtois earlier in the season, the Spaniard joined Real Madrid on loan and is still hoping to make a permanent move there.

Chelsea wanted to assess their goalkeeping position during the summer because Mauricio Pochettino was looking for a change. Following the departure of Edouard Mendy to Saudi Arabia, the Blues pursued the acquisition of Robert Sanchez as a replacement for Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Following that, Kepa was given an opportunity when Real Madrid’s Thibaut Courtois suffered a long-term, potentially season-ending injury. The Spaniard was signed on loan by the Spanish giants, with the 29-year-old Chelsea player already eager to cut his pay to join them permanently.

Whether that is also on Real Madrid’s mind is unknown, but reports claim that Carlo Ancelotti’s side are unwilling to overpay for the 29-year-old. According to reports, they are only willing to spend roughly €10 million or slightly more for the Chelsea player, which may annoy the Blues.

Chelsea has now set a €25 million asking price for the 29-year-old Real Madrid target, who will enter his contract’s final year next summer. Even at that amount, he is far less expensive than the €80 million Chelsea paid to sign him from Athletic Club all those years ago.

Real Madrid is said to be interested in signing him, but would a permanent move be a terrible deal for Kepa? When Courtois returns from his injury, the Spaniard will almost certainly have to take on a secondary position, and if he does sign with them, current backup keeper Andriy Lunin will be out.

Chelsea, on the other hand, sees no future for Kepa. They are already looking for a new keeper, and names like Aaron Ramsdale are on their short list. Mikel Arteta has picked David Raya as his definitive No. 1 for the foreseeable future, thus the Arsenal great could leave next summer.

Joining Real Madrid would be a dream come true for Kepa, but in the long run, he will only play a supporting role for the squad behind Courtois. There are doubts that Real Madrid will pay the €25 million asking price for a backup goalkeeper with a year left on his contract.
