Andre to Liverpool: Fabrizio Romano provides transfer update in ‘just four words’

Fabrizio Romano, the club’s transfer expert, has provided an update on Andre’s future, amid interest from Liverpool and Fulham.

Liverpool expressed an interest in the Brazilian midfielder in the summer, but were told they would have to wait until at least January since he planned to play the entire Brazil season.

That choice was justified when he played 120 minutes in helping Fluminense win the Copa Liberatores for the first time in the club’s history, and the 22-year-old is now a player who might transfer in January.

According to Fabrizio Romano of Kick.com, Fulham are now ahead of Liverpool in the fight for Andre. Romano explained: “There is an obsession with this Andre story. Liverpool are still very well informed on the situation of Andre but Liverpool are currently not in negotiations with Fluminense.

“At the moment there is not a concrete discussion. That’s the reality. They (Liverpool) wanted him in the summer but they are not negotiating now.

“Fulham want Andre. Liverpool are just in contact with people close to Andre but they are not actively negotiating with Fluminense. I can’t predict the future.”

However, the transfer guru summed up the latest news with just four words regarding the Reds’ interest: Interest? Yes. Negotiation. No”

Fulham hoping to beat Liverpool to 21-year-old Brazilian starlet

With Liverpool spending over £140 million on midfielders this summer, it seemed doubtful that another move will be considered. Especially with the likes of Stefan Bajcetic returning to the fray.

The fact that Liverpool lacks a real defensive midfielder is the only thing that keeps them interested in midfielders. Alexis Mac Allister has performed in the most important roles, but he lacks the profile of someone like Fabinho, who left in the summer.

Fulham’s interest is heightened because Joao Palhinha was a target for numerous teams in the summer and was on the verge of joining Bayern Munich on deadline day, so it makes sense to find a youthful successor – and one who has the potential to develop in value.
