Toulouse’s Frank Magri revealed he was snubbed by Darwin Nunez after Liverpool’s loss in Toulouse

Liverpool were defeated 3-2 by Toulouse in their Europa League Group E match earlier this month.

Deja vu for Liverpool in defeat to Toulouse

Toulouse forward Frank Magri has spoken out about his post-match snub from Darwin Nunez following his team’s victory over Liverpool.

A contentious video assistant referee decision denied Liverpool a stoppage-time equalizer in their Europa League loss to Toulouse earlier this month at Stadium TFC. Jarell Quansah’s goal to tie the game at 3-3 in the seventh minute of added time was ruled out because Alexis Mac Allister handled the ball.

The Reds had gone down to goals from Aron Donnum and Thijs Dallinga until Cristian Casseres’ own goal gave Jurgen Klopp’s side a lifeline. However, substitute Magri restored his team’s two-goal lead until Diogo Jota scored a late consolation.

Despite the loss, Liverpool stayed top of Group E, but Nunez was enraged after the game and refused to shake hands with Magri. However, the 24-year-old was expecting a snub after getting into a scuffle with the forward throughout the game.

“We got into a bit of a fight during the match over one or two duels,” he recalled to French publication La Depeche.

“So at the end, when I see him coming… Before I hold out my hand, I see his look and I’m actually expecting it. That’s why I laugh afterwards.”

Before he added: “I was expecting this little wind. It’s really anecdotal. It didn’t stop me from sleeping.”

The Reds will be back in Europa League action on Thursday night when they host LASK at Anfield. A win or a draw would ensure Liverpool a top-two finish in the group before the final matchday.
