The departure of Mohamed Salah next summer might open the door for Liverpool to acquire Kylian Mbappe, but they will face stiff competition from Real Madrid, TEAMtalk can reveal.
Kylian Mbappe is often considered as the best footballer on the planet, and there is a race to sign the forward when he leaves Paris Saint-Germain next summer. The striker is out of contract and has informed the French club that he wishes to go, with many anticipating a move to Real Madrid.
Sources have told TEAMtalk that a number of clubs are interested in signing him, including Premier League giants Liverpool, who would love to add a fresh world-class talent like Mbappe to their attack. It would take a significant expenditure to try to land him, but that possibility may present itself this summer.
Mohamed Salah is Liverpool’s brightest star, and the Egyptian has been in superb form this season, finishing second in the Premier League top scorers’ standings with 10 goals.
He is still the Saudi Pro League’s top aim, and they are desperate to make him their new poster boy next summer.
In the summer, Al-Ittihad were willing to pay up to £200 million for the winger, but Liverpool categorically refused any offers for their star player, including a £150 million deal from the Saudi club. They were hesitant to sell, but that may change in 2024.
A similar amount would almost certainly be required, allowing the Anfield side to offer Mbappe a deal that would blow their compensation structure, as well as the pillars for normal business, out of the sea. The Frenchman makes a whopping £65 million each year at PSG, and any interested club would have to pay a similar figure to sign him.
PSG grew enraged with the 24-year-old after it was revealed that he and Real Madrid had a verbal arrangement for him to join at the end of the current season. As a result, they clashed with the player and his camp during contract extension talks, and he is now free to depart.
The idea of one of the world’s finest players leaving for nothing was inconceivable for PSG, but the club’s Qatari owners drew the line in negotiations and told Mbappe and his agents that he is free to leave. They have agreed that the football club comes first.
Many teams are on high alert as a result of this, with sources anticipating Real Madrid to finalize a deal and bring in their ideal target. However, there is still time for others, such as Liverpool, to make their own offer in the coming months.
