According to sources, Liverpool are still interested in Donyell Malen, a winger for Borussia Dortmund, and are keeping an eye on his new agency’s position.
Liverpool has long admired Malen, and there have been rumors that they are considering a new move for him. In theory, he might ultimately replace Mohamed Salah on the right wing, but he can also play on the left.
Malen remains on Liverpool’s shortlist, according to a statement issued by Bild on Tuesday. Jurgen Klopp is said to be a keen fan of the Netherlands.
Rafaela Pimenta, who inherited the majority of the late Mino Raiola’s clientele, had already handled Malen before adding him to the SEG agency’s roster on Monday.
Malen’s change of representation appears to foreshadow a future move, which Liverpool would prefer not to miss out on.
Furthermore, SEG arranged for Cody Gakpo to relocate to Liverpool in January 2023, so they already have connections there that could help in future negotiations.
Malen’s contract with Borussia Dortmund expires in 2026, but the club may be anticipating interest in his talents.
Malen has made 17 appearances across all competitions this season, scoring five goals. He has 24 goals and 16 assists in 90 games for the squad throughout his time with them.
He had previously played for PSV, which signed him after his last attempt at success in England with Arsenal failed.
Malen was never given the chance to play for Arsenal as a senior, but he is beginning to resemble a player who bolted the club and may return to haunt them.
