Manchester United is reportedly considering replacing two of their summer signings, Sofyan Amrabat and Mason Mount

Manchester United is already trying to sign a midfield player in January in order to replace Sofyan Amrabat and Mason Mount. Since joining United in the summer, the two have fallen short of the team’s expectations.

Mount had another injury shortly before the end of the November international break, which is preventing him from playing at the moment. Erik ten Hag, the manager of United, made signing the England international a top priority in the summer to infuse fresh vitality and inventiveness.

In contrast to the offensive style he played at Chelsea, Ten Hag placed Mount in a deeper role. The 24-year-old injured himself against Tottenham Hotspur in August, although he did start the first two games of the season.

After the September international break, Mount made his first-ever comeback, although he was unable to have a major influence. This season, the Englishman has only appeared in one full ninety-minute game for the Red Devils.

The 24-year-old participated in the entire match in United’s 3-0 Carabao Cup loss at Old Trafford over Newcastle United. Despite having the advantage in possession over the Magpies, Mount was unable to pose a danger to the home team. In addition, Timo Livramento humiliated the former Chelsea player by defeating him handily and providing an assist for the opening goal.

Amrabat, meanwhile, came to the team on deadline day as a season-long loan from Fiorentina. The Morocco international signed with the team while recovering from an injury; in September, he made a late substitution against Burnley.

In addition to using Amrabat in his usual position as a defensive midfielder, Ten Hag has also used him as a temporary left-back. With subpar performances, the 27-year-old has, however, been unable to support his position as a starting midfielder.

Similar to Mount, Amrabat descended down the ranks and has filled in for the Red Devils. The manager of United has preferred to use players who are on form, such as Scott McTominay and Kobbie Mainoo, over the Morocco international.

According to the Guardian, United wants to strengthen their midfield by adding a new number eight. United’s season has been severely impeded by Amrabat and Mount’s failures, and they cannot afford to carry on in this manner.

Due to injury, Christian Eriksen and Casemiro are not available for United at this time. There could be plenty of opportunity for Amrabat and Mount to salvage their United careers from the crowded December match. But given Mount’s present condition, there is conjecture regarding when he would return.
