Manchester United are reported to be keeping eye on Ukrainian wonderkid, who has been compared to Foden

Manchester United is said to be interested in Ukrainian prodigy Georgiy Sudakov ahead of the transfer window.

The rumors come from the Italian outlet TuttoJuve, which claims Manchester United is watching Sudakov and is threatening Juventus’ ambitions to recruit him.

Here’s a rundown of everything you need to know about the possible inclusion:

Georgiy Sudakov, 21, has been with Shakhtar Donetsk since 2017 after signing from Metalist Kharkiv, and has risen through the Ukrainian club’s youth system to the first team.

At the age of 18, he made his debut for Luis Castro in 2020, and he has also played for former manager Roberto De Zerbi, who is now at Brighton.

Sudakov, who now wears the number 10 shirt for the team, has made 83 appearances for the club, scoring 13 goals. This featured a goal against Barcelona earlier this season in the Champions League.

Sudakov is an offensive midfielder who has also played on the left wing on occasion.

He is also currently a Ukraine international, having scored once in 12 games after playing 20 times for their under-21 team.

In an interview with The Telegraph earlier this year, Sudakov compared the style of his game to that of James Maddison and Phil Foden.

Georgiy Sudakov’s Role

When attacking midfielders are linked to Manchester United, there is always the expectation that they will play second fiddle to Bruno Fernandes.

However, Fernandes will be 30 next year, and United will need to find a younger deputy to at least lessen his game time and allow him to be rotated at times.

That might be Amad, Mason Mount assuming a role, or United looking to the transfer market.

If a decision is made to hire, it is better to sign a young, up-and-coming talent like Sudakov than an established celebrity. Sudakov would have time to adjust to the Premier League and learn under Fernandes.
