According to Romanian website ProSports, Manchester United has expressed serious interest in Genoa defender Radu Dragusin.
Newcastle United, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur are all interested in signing the Romanian international next summer. According to reports, United have already made contact with the former Juventus defender and have began the “Dragusin operation.”
TuttoMercatoWeb claimed previously that Genoa intends to prolong his contract, but will place a “gentleman’s agreement” if an offer of roughly £25m arises. The revised contract offer and “gentleman’s” clause are intended to avoid “torment and turbulence” as interest in the 21-year-old grows.
Dragusin, 21, signed a permanent contract with Genoa last summer for £4.75 million after spending last season on loan with the Italian club in Serie B, where he played a key role in Genoa’s promotion to the Italian top flight.
Dragusin-Martinez partnership
Erik Ten Hag requires a dependable center-back to be Lisandro Martinez’s long-term partner when he returns from injury. With Raphael Varane’s future at Old Trafford unknown, United are likely to make a bid for Dragusin, who is thought to be an ideal fit for Ten Hag’s playing style.
Dragusin, who is 1.91 meters tall, is a muscular and aggressive center-back who commands an imposing defensive presence and excels in aerial duels. His physical characteristics are well-suited to the rigorous demands of the Premier League, giving him a significant threat to the league’s attackers.
Ten Hag might play with a complementing pairing of two of the most combative center-backs if Dragusin is right-footed and Martinez is left-footed.
The key question is how soon Dragusin will adjust to the League’s technical and tactical aspects, as he is frequently found wanting in possession.
