Since joining Shakhtar Donetsk in 2017 from Metalist Kharkiv, Georgiy Sudakov, age 21, has advanced to the first team via the Ukrainian club’s development system.

At the age of 18, he debuted for Luis Castro’s 2020 squad. Additionally, he has appeared under Roberto De Zerbi, who is now the manager at Brighton.

Following the adoption of the club’s number 10 jersey, Sudakov has accumulated 13 goals in 83 appearances for the club. This included a goal scored earlier this season in the Champions League match against Barcelona.

Although he primarily operates as an attacking midfielder, Sudakov has sporadically lined up on the left wing.

He has also established himself as a member of the Ukraine national team, having appeared 20 times for their under-21 squad and netting once in 12 appearances.

In an earlier interview with The Telegraph, Sudakov made a stylistic comparison between his own game and that of James Maddison and Phil Foden.

The role of Georgiy Sudakov

Asserting midfielders who are linked to Manchester United are perpetually complicated by the expectation that they will be subordinate to Bruno Fernandes.

However, it is also noteworthy that Fernandes will turn 30 years old the following season, and United will need to locate a younger substitute in order to at least reduce his playing time and permit rotations.

That could very well be Amad, Mason Mount could assume a role, or United might consider making a transfer.

In the event that a recruitment decision is reached, it is logical to pursue the acquisition of a youthful, developing talent such as Sudakov instead of an established superstar. Sudakov would be afforded the opportunity to acclimate to the Premier League while serving as Fernandes’ pupil.
