Just last weekend, Kobbie Mainoo made his Premier League debut, and already, a number of former players and Premier League legends have praised him.

One of them was Ian Wright, who praised Mainoo and acknowledged that the 18-year-old was “so impressive.” Roy Keane also waxed poetic about the young England midfield player, echoing this view.

Lee Sharpe, a former Manchester United player who won a championship, has now offered his opinion on the newest hero at Old Trafford.

“Mainoo doesn’t look like an 18-year-old who has just stepped into the team, because he’s unbelievably composed,” he praised.

Then, when he criticized Bruno Fernandes, the captain of United, Sharpe kept praising Mainoo.

“Maybe Bruno could learn a thing or two from him about not giving the ball away! He reads the game so well, pure natural ability.”

Sharpe went on to say that he has demonstrated enough to be kept in the starting lineup.

“Mainoo needs to keep playing in the first team now. If he’s sent back to the Under-21s, it may hinder his progression.”

Mainoo has instantly become a key player

Many predicted it based on his preseason performances, but Mainoo has been ice cold from the first minute against Everton, and that is precisely what the midfield has been lacking.

United can’t develop and hide from the media with Casemiro, which has caused us a lot of problems over the past year.

However, we appear to be able to play around teams and easily beat the press when Mainoo is on the field, and this will only get better as he plays more.

In an ideal world, Mainoo would be able to form triangles with Luke Shaw and Lisandro Martinez. After that, we’d want to see a new midfielder who can enhance our natural talent.

For Mainoo, Carrington’s actions are just getting started.
