This weekend in the Premier League, Tottenham Hotspur will face reigning champions Manchester City, and former Spurs manager Harry Redknapp is not optimistic about their chances.
Spurs’ promising start to the 2023–24 season has ground to a halt, primarily as a result of suspensions and injuries to Ange Postecoglou’s squad.
Spurs led the league with a ten-game unbeaten streak at the beginning of the season. However, following last weekend’s loss to Aston Villa, the Lilywhites have fallen to fifth place in the standings after three consecutive losses.
Given the absence of key personnel including James Maddison, Micky van de Ven, and Cristian Romero, and in light of an upcoming match against Manchester City, it seems unlikely that the situation will improve any time soon.
Postecoglou’s squad is presently one point behind City in the Premier League standings, in second place. Furthermore, Harry Redknapp is unable to envision his former club gaining anything this weekend at the Etihad.
He stated to BetVictor, “The major one has arrived! Pep was likely irritated that they failed to defeat Liverpool last week; they failed to secure the victory. Although they displayed a remarkable recovery against Leipzig last week, they likely feel unbeatable at home.
“Spurs have suffered three consecutive losses; Ange must be concerned.” Injuries continue to accumulate for his team as well; they are experiencing a truly trying stretch. However, they have continued to generate opportunities, and as long as Son and Kulusevski remain in the lineup, they will continue to pose a threat.
“While I can envision Spurs scoring, I cannot envision anything but City emerging victorious.” “With Foden on the other side and Doku on the other, City will be an extremely difficult team to stop.”
Prediction: Man City 3-1 Spurs.
