At St. James’ Park, Anthony Gordon scored the game’s lone goal by tapping in Kieran Trippier’s cross from close range in the second half. Late in the game, Antony thought he had equalized, but his attempt was disallowed because Harry Maguire was deemed to have been offside when the ball bounced off of him.

As of right now, Erik ten Hag’s team has suffered losses to all four of the top eight opponents they have faced in the Premier League. Next week, they have home games against Bournemouth and Chelsea.

Ten Hag says he’ll “talk to” Marcus Rashford about his poor performance for United.

After serving a midweek suspension against Galatasaray, Rashford started the 1-0 loss to Newcastle again, although he struggled once more and was replaced by Antony in the 61st minute.

In 18 United appearances this season, the 26-year-old has netted two goals, and that one came against Arsenal on September 3 in open play.

“Yeah, I know this issue’s coming up and Marcus is investing a lot,” Ten Hag replied. “We support him and he will return to his form.”
