Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, has “lost control of his football club,” according to Tony Cascarino, a former Chelsea striker.
The Red Devils were defeated 1-0 by Newcastle United on Saturday, their third consecutive defeat in all competitions, and their run of five wins in six Premier League fixtures came to an end.
Although Kieran Trippier had earlier hit the crossbar with a wonderful free-kick, Anthony Gordon’s 55th-minute strike ultimately ended the game at St James’ Park.
The visitors believed they had stolen a late draw when substitute Antony’s shot was accidentally deflected into the Magpies’ net by Harry Maguire, but he was in an offside position, and the flag was quickly raised to ruin their hopes.
Ten Hag is under increasing pressure to generate better performances from his players, and Manchester United’s performance at Newcastle demonstrated why they are trailing their top-four competitors.
Cascarino stated of Ten Hag, “He doesn’t have control of his football club.” Ten Hag’s dressing room cannot possibly be full of characters and atmosphere. That’s not on display.”
And the former Manchester United striker believes no Man United players would currently be selected for the Newcastle United team under Eddie Howe.
“If you include injuries, people like Botman would get into my side,” Cascarino remarked. This chart depicts the movement of the two football clubs.
“With the signings and characters they’ve brought in, Newcastle have definitely risen.” Meanwhile, Manchester United is no longer recognizable.
“Ten Hag is mostly to blame. He’s been there for a long enough period. He’s had several transfer windows to deal with the matter.
“He was given a not bad Manchester United dressing room, it isn’t that today.”
“Today we have to say ‘credit to Newcastle,'” Ten Hag stated of their performance. They were better than us after the start, where we could have scored with (Alejandro) Garnacho, they were more proactive.
“We had to go back and defend, which we did.” We gave them one goal, but in the end, we fought back, we had two fantastic chances, but we couldn’t grab a point from here.”
Marcus Rashford, of England, cut a disgruntled figure and was removed by Rasmus Hojlund with 29 minutes remaining.
When asked about Rashford’s form, Ten Hag stated, “He works hard and invests a lot.” He will return, he will recuperate, and he has our full support.”
