Eight-year Liverpool record is broken by Alexis Mac Allister’s stunning goal

With his incredible long-range strike against Fulham, Alexis Mac Allister has shattered an eight-year record at Anfield.

Before halftime, the summer acquisition scored Liverpool’s second goal of the match in a thrilling 4-3 Premier League victory over the Cottagers. It was also his first goal in a red shirt.

Mac Allister’s earlier goal was not in vain thanks to late goals from Wataru Endo and Trent Alexander-Arnold, as the Reds completed an incredible comeback to win all three points on Sunday afternoon.

Mac Allister scored a stunning goal for Liverpool in his debut. The Argentine let the ball go over his body as it bounced towards him before hammering a spectacular attempt into the far top corner from range.

Mac Allister’s amazing goal will live in memory for both him and the Anfield crowd, as Bernd Leno was powerless to stop it.

With his worldie, the World Cup winner unintentionally shattered an eight-year-old record at Anfield.

According to Michael Reid of Opta, who posted on social media, “Alexis Mac Allister’s goal travelled 26.8 yards – the longest range by a player’s first Premier League goal for Liverpool since Divock Origi vs West Brom in December 2015 (32.5 yards).”

Origi joins Italian champions Milan after Liverpool exit

During Jurgen Klopp’s debut season on Merseyside, Liverpool stole a late point at home against West Brom in a 2-2 draw thanks to a deflected shot from distance by Origi.

Compared to Origi, Mac Allister’s goal was a far better effort and came from a greater distance. The midfielder may have already won the December Premier League Goal of the Month award.

Hopefully, the 24-year-old’s goal is the first of many to be scored in red.
