Trent Alexander-Arnold had a fantastic Sunday afternoon as he led Liverpool to a thrilling 4-3 comeback win over Fulham at Anfield.
The 25-year-old was in the center of it all, seemingly opening the scoring in the first half with a spectacular free-kick before netting a late winner on 88 minutes.
While replays showed the ball striking the underside of the crossbar and hitting the back of Fulham keeper Bernd Leno for what will most likely be called an own goal, the England international did manage to score the game-winning goal only seconds after Wataru Endo had equalised for the Reds to make it 3-3.
Alexander-Arnold ran towards the Liverpool fans at Anfield after the free-kick, pulling out a hushed celebration with a knowing smile on his face as his teammates hurried to congratulate him.
However, several football fans on social media were baffled by the Liverpool full-back’s choice of celebration, wondering why Alexander-Arnold was shushing his own fans.
Alexander-Arnold was instrumental in Liverpool’s 4-3 victory over Fulham.
On social media, one fan commented, “Bros at Anfield shushing the home crowd.” Another person said, “Bros got no idea what’s going on bless him keep being special lad.”
“Did he just shush the Anfield crowd?” asked a third. with a fourth agreeing: “He’s shushing his own fans.” “Brother, who exactly is he shushing?” questioned a fifth. However, it appears that Alexander-Arnold is set to make the shush his signature celebration, which means fans will be seeing it for years to come.
Last weekend, the Liverpool defender performed the hushed celebration against Manchester City.
Last Saturday, Alexander-Arnold equalized for Liverpool in a 1-1 draw against Manchester City at the Etihad, where he performed the identical celebration he did at Anfield on Sunday.
