Sir Jim Ratcliffe will make a decision on Mason Greenwood’s future before the end of the season and has not ruled out a return to Manchester United.
Outgoing United CEO Richard Arnold reversed his decision to reintroduce Greenwood to the team at the start of the season.
Greenwood had been suspended as United conducted an internal investigation into his behavior in the aftermath of domestic assault allegations that were later dropped.
The attacker was loaned out to Getafe for a season, with United covering his wages.
United stated in a statement following the probe that they had no expectation of Greenwood returning to the club.
However, the statement was carefully phrased, and Arnold will leave his position at the end of the month.
Greenwood has four goals for Getafe
Ratcliffe will take over football operations after completing a 25% takeover of the club in the next six weeks.
Greenwood’s destiny will then be decided by the 71-year-old, who is scheduled to return to the club in July.
According to Fabrizio Romano, no decision has been made, but Ratcliffe will take one next summer when the club evaluates Greenwood’s condition.
United wants Greenwood to concentrate on his loan at Getafe and return to his best form.
Greenwood’s girlfriend and child have moved to Madrid with him.
