In a scathing verdict, Gary Neville admits he’s ‘bored’ of Manchester United

Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville has slammed the club’s current troubles, revealing that he is ‘bored’ of watching them.

United were trounced 1-0 by Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Saturday, dropping them to seventh in the Premier League table. Anthony Gordon scored the game’s sole goal, handing the Reds yet another away defeat against a major rival.

The last time United beat a top-eight team on the road in the Premier League was in October 2021, with their away record against the division’s elite under Erik ten Hag being nothing short of dismal. They have played Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and Newcastle this season and have lost all three games.

United’s performance at St James’ Park last weekend fell far short of expectations, with several members of Ten Hag’s squad failing to accomplish the fundamentals. It has immediately called Ten Hag’s future into question.

In terms of Neville, United’s continual cycle of producing bland, uninteresting performances has caused him to say that he is ‘bored’ of seeing them. He has also acknowledged that he is nervous about their upcoming trip to Liverpool.

“It’s well below par, it’s really disappointing, and I feel like the noise against the manager is starting to occur,” Neville remarked on his Sky Sports podcast. There are then those similar voices that say, ‘Surely we can’t get rid of another manager, we’ve had to get rid of the players because they are the ones who have got rid of the other managers’.

“Then we turn to the owners, and I get bored.” I’ve had enough of my own club. I don’t want to do their games [punditry/commentary] any more, and I don’t want to watch their games any longer, and it is the worst indictment you can have of your football club when you get sick or tired of seeing them.

“It’s not just me; in the last few weeks, a couple of people have said, ‘Enough’.” The stupid thing is that I’ll plan my entire Wednesday night [versus. Chelsea] around watching Manchester United.

“That’s life; we go back and watch them, don’t we?” But that’s how I feel: I’m sick of seeing them. That is a terrible situation to be in.

“I love that club and I love the excitement of football, but I’m already worried about what will happen at Anfield in two weeks’ time, just because I think it could be a disaster.” I’m already worried about what will happen against Chelsea on Wednesday night because it might be a disaster.

“There is no confidence; the entire club has lost our trust as fans.” We don’t trust the media anymore, either. The reality is that they consistently fall short of expectations, which is unacceptable. Certainly not good enough.”
