Jurgen Klopp issues worrying Joel Matip update after Liverpool defender is brought off with serious-looking injury against Fulham

Joel Matip could be out for an extended period of time, adding to Liverpool’s already dire injury situation.

After 68 minutes, Matip pulled up in discomfort, and Ibrahima Konate took his place.

And despite the quick substitution, his German gaffer doesn’t think he’ll be back anytime soon.

“We lost today Joel. We obviously have no pictures yet, no scan yet, but from what you hear and can see, that will not be a short one,” Klopp said after the victory at Anfield.

“Unlucky, but we have to just get through this.”

Alisson, Andy Robertson, Diogo Jota, Thiago Alcantara, and Stefan Bajcetic are already out for the Reds.

Alisson’s muscular issue isn’t too serious, according to Klopp, so he might make a comeback in the coming week or so.

Despite suffering a similar injury in the same game against Man City, Jota will have to miss a longer period of time.

It is predicted that Thiago will return in the same time frame as Scottish great Robertson, who underwent shoulder surgery and is expected to be sidelined until the New Year.

Bajcetic is still working to improve his fitness while he attempts to heal an adductor problem.
