Jurgen Klopp reveals troubling Joel Matip update after the Liverpool defender suffered a serious injury against Fulham

Liverpool’s injury woes have worsened, with Joel Matip a possible long-term absentee.

After 68 minutes, Matip pulled up in pain and was replaced by Ibrahima Konate.

Despite the quick swap, his German coach does not expect he will be back anytime soon.

“We lost today Joel. We obviously have no pictures yet, no scan yet, but from what you hear and can see, that will not be a short one,” Klopp said after the victory at Anfield.

“Unlucky, but we have to just get through this.”

Alisson, Andy Robertson, Diogo Jota, Thiago Alcantara, and Stefan Bajcetic are already out for the Reds.

Alisson could return in the next week or so, according to Klopp, because his muscular injury isn’t too significant.

Despite suffering a similar injury in the same game against Manchester City, Jota will be out for a lengthier period of time.

Elsewhere, Scottish great Robertson is expected to be out until the New Year following shoulder surgery, and Thiago’s return date appears to be similar.

Meanwhile, Bajcetic continues to work on his fitness despite recovering from an adductor problem.
