Anthony Martial was involved in ‘bust-up with Man Utd teammate’ long before his row with Erik ten Hag

Long before his altercation with Erik ten Hag, Anthony Martial was involved in a fight with one of his Manchester United teammates.

The Red Devils manager was seen exchanging words with the Frenchman from the touchline during United’s 1-0 loss at Newcastle on Saturday.

Martial’s boss was enraged when he made a half-hearted attempt to monitor Fabian Schar’s run from deep.

After the game, Ten Hag spoke out about the incident involving the 27-year-old, revealing that his touchline antics were meant at the entire squad rather than just Martial.

“It’s not about Anthony Martial, it’s about the team,” he said via the Manchester Evening News. “I try to energise the team and try to get a reaction from the team in this moment.

“As you see, we had a tough period and when you’re coaching you are a little more aggressive, so that’s normal.”

However, this is not the first time Martial has been into a fight.

Last season, the forward was allegedly involved in a training ground brawl with academy product Dan Gore.

During the Qatar World Cup, a number of academy youth players, including 18-year-old Gore, were pulled in to make up the numbers during training.

To avoid unnecessary injuries, each player was ordered not to challenge first-team players.

According to The Mirror, Gore did not hear his manager’s advice and collided with Martial, resulting in an intense argument.

Martial is claimed to have retaliated, but the adolescent stayed firm, and the duo had to be separated before training was suspended.

United’s next Premier League match is against Chelsea, and it remains to be seen whether Martial will be given another start, while new recruit Rasmus Hojlund continues to wait for his first Premier League goal.
