Anthony Martial has ‘no interest in football’ and should have been ‘dragged off after 20 minutes’

Anthony Martial of Manchester United has “no interest in football” and should have been “dragged off after 20 minutes” against Newcastle.

Manchester United have an Anthony Martial contradiction with 17 players giving Erik ten Hag problems

Martial scored in the 3-0 win over Everton and was given another start against Newcastle on Saturday, but he was widely panned for his performance.

Ten Hag replaced the 27-year-old striker, who joined United from Monaco in 2015, just after the hour mark after an incident in the first half in which the United manager was seen screaming at the striker.

Former Liverpool full-back Stephen Warnock feels Martial would have received criticism from his teammates if he had played for Newcastle, and that he was fortunate to have stayed on the field for as long as he did.

“If Martial was playing for Newcastle at the weekend and he’s not closing down with intensity and not running the channels and not holding the ball up I think Guimaraes tells him, I think Schar tells him, I think he gets hammered by the players to do more and they don’t accept it,” Warnock was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

“I also believe Eddie Howe drags him away after about 20 minutes.” I’m not sure how the players are reacting to his performances.

“If I were a manager, I’d pull him off.” It is simply insufficient.

“How are people expecting Martial to suddenly start running and showing an interest in football after eight years at Manchester United?”

“How he even gets in a Manchester United shirt is beyond me, he’s not done it for years.”

Roy Keane, a Manchester United star, slammed the Frenchman, saying he “might as well go down the leagues.”

“We mention Martial… we forgive Martial because he scores a goal every 14 years,” Keane said on Sky Sports.

“But let me tell you, when we get that ball into you at Newcastle under pressure, you better get hold of that ball to get us up the pitch and some breathing space.”

“He’s touching balls off and cheaply giving the ball away.” You might as well go down a level.

“Manchester United tried to get rid of him a few years back. Man United is judged based on their performance in major games. If you can’t handle that, maybe you’re not a Manchester United player.”
