Bayern Munich winger could be potential replacement for Salah

Liverpool maintained their 100% record at Anfield this season with an incredible fightback victory over Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

With Manchester City surrendering points at home to Tottenham Hotspur later in the day, Jurgen Klopp’s team has moved into second position, only two points behind table-toppers Arsenal.

While Liverpool’s resurgence is astonishing – they were awful last year and finished fifth – there is still work to be done, and Klopp will need to bolster the defense in January and next summer.

However, there is a chance that a certain forward will depart Anfield sooner rather than later, and preparations appear to have been made as a result.

If Mohamed Salah leaves Liverpool in 2024, Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane is expected to be the first-choice replacement, according to October reports.

Jones said: “Sane has been linked for a while and I think there’s something in it in terms of Liverpool want to be kept abreast of the situation, but I don’t think there’s anything imminent on the cards. I don’t think Sane is on the verge of joining Liverpool.

But there is going to come a point when they have to start thinking more clearly about what happens after Salah.”

Why are Liverpool interested in Leroy Sane?

In essence, Liverpool is keeping an eye on Sane’s status at Bayern due to the remaining ambiguity around Salah’s future at Anfield, with the irreplaceable Egyptian forward in need of an heir. As intimidating as that may sound.

Salah, 31, is out of contract at the end of the 2024/25 season and was the subject of intense transfer interest from Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad in the summer, with Liverpool rejecting a whopping £150 million bid late in the window.

It would be incorrect to say that Salah was uninterested in leaving, but he set a good example by refusing to even consider leaving, allowing the story to unfold naturally.

That’s not to guarantee he’ll stay on Merseyside beyond his current contract, and the player who has 199 goals and 86 assists in 325 games for the Reds will require a first-rate replacement, and Sane may be the guy for the job.
