Former Scotland international Graeme Souness believes Anthony Martial represents a decade of terrible football decisions at Manchester United.
Souness remarked this when recommending that the Frenchman quit Manchester United.
This follows Martial’s dismal performance in Manchester United’s 1-0 loss to Newcastle in a Premier League match over the weekend.
Following his £36 million move from Monaco to Manchester United in 2015, Martial has battled to maintain consistency.
“It was probably four or five years ago that I wrote that this had to be Martial’s last-chance saloon.” “They gave him another contract, and he didn’t deserve it,” Souness said on talkSPORT on Monday.
“By mentioning his name, I mean that they have consistently made poor decisions in football matters for the past decade.”
“The fact that Martial is still at that club represents a decade of poor football decisions for me.”
“I’ll let you know what happens to Martial.” When you see him in training, you think to yourself, ‘bloody hell, he’s a player, there’s a real player in there,’ but how many chances does he need to establish he’s a big-club player? His opportunity expired five years ago, and he should not be present.
“He is just one of several major footballing decisions they got wrong.”
