Spurs came from behind twice against reigning champions Manchester City to earn a 3-3 draw at the Etihad.

It was a huge success for Tottenham and Postecoglou, demonstrating his ability to compete with the greatest managers in the Premier League.

Former Premier League forward Michael Bridges claimed on The Optus Sport Football Podcast that Man City will have the Australian firmly on their radar when it comes time to replace Guardiola.

“Ange Postecoglou was part of the City Group with the Marinos, obviously went to Celtic, but the City Group have seen what he’s all about,” Bridges was quoted as saying.

“I believe they’re keeping an eye on him this Premier League season, and the results will cement the move.” When Pep Guardiola decides it’s time to leave Manchester City, Postecoglou will take over as manager.

“There you have it. Just keep it in mind. Keep this one in mind for a year or two. That’s OK.”

Spurs trailed Manchester City 2-1 at halftime as captain Son Heung-min scored inside the first six minutes.

Dejan Kulusevski, who equalized for Tottenham in the 90th minute, said Postecoglou didn’t mix his comments at half-time since he got the desired reaction from his squad.

“What Ange would have been saying, there’s a difference between having to go at your players with bad language and actually saying, go out there and believe in yourselves, in the style of play, because I think they felt a little bit underdone and didn’t feel like they had the quality to control that game, to keep the ball and play the AngeBall,” Bridges went on to say.

“When they came out in the second half, Ange gave them that little lecture, and it’s basically like a momentum boost and good for the mindset.” They came out and simply demonstrated their abilities.”

Along with Postecoglou’s team talk, he also significantly substituted a struggling Bryan Gil at halftime with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, which Tifo Football’s Jon Mackenzie highlighted allowed Spurs to get back into the game.

“I thought it was a really interesting game in terms of particularly build up because in the first half Spurs were using a single pivot,” Mackenzie remarked on The Optus Sport Football Podcast.

“They were using Yves Bissouma as their sole pivot, and they were getting pressed quite aggressively by Man City, who were matching them up pretty much player for player.”

“They brought on Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the second half, sat him alongside Bissouma, and it just gave them a little bit more flexibility in the build-up phase and in possession in the second half than they did in the first half.” And it allowed them a little more room to execute what they were attempting to do.

“So yeah, again, you know, lots of swearing perhaps in the half-time team talk, but also a little bit of tactical nuance in there from Ange as well.”

While it was simply a draw and a point, Spurs now behind leaders Arsenal by six points, football expert Phil Kitromilides noted that it was a significant result for Tottenham mentally after a string of failures.

“It does feel like this was a big result, not just because they got a point away to the champions, but also mentally for everyone to buy into what’s going on, coming off the back of those three defeats, and three defeats in really quite painful circumstances,” Kitromilides went on to say.

“We are aware of what occurred during the Chelsea game. We saw what happened in the Wolves game when they conceded twice late in the game. And in the Aston Villa game, they could have scored five or six goals but lost.

“So to come off the back of that run, go to the champions, go toe to toe with them and get something out of the game, playing the way that they did, I think mentally the team will be really reinforced.”
