Five potential players could move to Stamford Bridge during the winter window

Under Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea has had a mixed season, and Todd Boehly’s substantial investment has not yet produced the anticipated returns.

Chelsea’s dreams of making the Champions League the next season have been dashed after a difficult start to the 2023–24 campaign. Despite this setback, the Blues have chosen to pursue a long-term project that will guarantee future success.

Consequently, more new arrivals have been anticipated during the January transfer window.

Trevoh Chalobah and Ian Maatsen will both be leaving Chelsea in January, so they may look to the market in their search for a striker. Which five players, though, might make a winter transfer to Stamford Bridge?

Victor Osimhen (Napoli)

Although it seems unlikely, weirder things have happened in the history of sports. Victor Osimhen is the best viable alternative for Chelsea, who seem keen to sign a world-class number nine.

Although Napoli has no plans to sell the Nigerian international in the middle of the season, it would be ill-advised to rule out a January transfer for Osimhen considering Boehly’s penchant for lavish spending.

Leny Yoro (Lille)

Lille, like Napoli, will want to hold onto their valuable assets come January, but Chelsea is among the top European teams that are keeping an eye on Leny Yoro.

At just eighteen, Yoro is already a regular at Lille, and considering Chelsea’s recent use of the French market (six French players have joined the club since 2022), Yoro’s acquisition would make sense.

Even though Axel Disasi only joined in the summer, Chalobah is set to depart, and considering Thiago Silva’s advanced age, it makes perfect sense to sign a replacement center back.

Gabriel Moscardo (Corinthians)

Due to Gabriel Moscardo’s reputation as one of South America’s most gifted midfielders, PSG and Chelsea are vying for his signature.

The Brazilian had already drawn interest from Liverpool and Barcelona, but it now appears like PSG and Chelsea will face off in a direct shootout.

As things stand, the Parisians seem to be winning the race, but in recent months, Pochettino’s team has persuaded a number of young Brazilian talents to go to west London, and Moscardo may be the next.

Roony Bardghji (Copenhagen)

Chelsea is keeping an eye on Rooney Bardghji, another young star, and Fabrizio Romano has stated that big European teams are keeping an eye on him ahead of the January transfer window.

Chelsea was chasing a move before the Copenhagen starlet’s incredible Champions League goal against Manchester United occurred, and that might be key as they try to seal a deal against opposition from teams like Juventus.

Santiago Gimenez (Feyenoord)

Santiago Gimenez of Feyenoord is an alternative to Osimhen, who is Chelsea’s first choice to replace him as their striker.

FootballTransfers is aware that Chelsea is keeping an eye on the Mexican player ahead of the January transfer window, and should the Blues decide they can’t wait until the summer to acquire Osimhen, then a move may be made.

Chelsea scouts are interested in Gimenez because of his performance this season, and if a fair offer is made, a deal might be completed.
