Scott McTominay’s two goals at Old Trafford sealed the victory for Manchester United, with the Scottish midfielder preventing Chelsea from claiming a point following Cole Palmer’s equalizer in the opening half.

The Red Devils emerged from a disappointing and lackluster loss to Newcastle United at St. James’ Park with vigour, and 26-year-old McTominay could have scored a hat-trick for United against a weak Chelsea side had he been more clinical.

Erik ten Hag’s squad delivered a solid performance from all eleven players on the field, and the outcome will undoubtedly provide a tremendous lift to the group.

McTominay, speaking to Amazon Prime following the game, cited three United players whom he considered to be world-class on a monumental night for the Red Devils.

Three individuals were singled out by the midfielder when questioned about his goalscoring exploits, as his two goals brought his total for the season in all competitions to six.

“I am delighted to score two goals but I have to give credit to all the boys,” the Scottish midfielder began. “Antony, (Harry) Maguire, Bruno (Fernandes), I can give you a list of players who were absolutely world-class tonight.”

It is difficult to disagree with the Scottish midfielder, and the Red Devils may wish to add an additional three to four names to that roster.

The Red Devils were in a dire situation after suffering a humiliating loss to Newcastle United, but a tenacious and determined victory over Chelsea has alleviated the burden on the Dutchman.

For Manchester United Fans

Particularly noteworthy was Bruno Fernandes’s exemplary captain’s performance for the Red Devils following their loss to the Geordie side.

Any skepticism regarding the players’ allegiances to Ten Hag would have been put to rest after the Red Devils’ performance against Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.

The upcoming weeks hold significant importance for the Red Devils, as they must contend with the formidable challenges of Bayern Munich, Liverpool, and Aston Villa, who have recently surpassed Pep Guardiola’s side by a single goal.
