Jaylen Brown Slams ESPN ‘Corny’ for Using a Graphic to Disregard His Statistics

The basketball world reacted quickly to the Celtics’ 122–112 loss against the Pacers on Monday, which resulted in their elimination from the NBA’s inaugural in-season tournament. Particularly social media backfired against Boston, which is the current number one seed in the Eastern Conference.

Following Boston’s defeat, ESPN released an image with the tagline, “Jaylen Brown been gettin’ ’em up the last two games,” emphasizing that the Celtics’ Jaylen Brown has attempted 43 shots without recording an assist in his last two games.

ESPN was criticized by Brown in the comments section.

He wrote on Tuesday, “You guys watch the game, too corny.”

It’s unclear what exactly infuriated Brown—whether the image was deceptive, or if ESPN was attempting to be lighthearted in the text.

In his team’s victory over the 76ers on Friday, Brown shot 8 for 20, while in the Pacers defeat, he shot 14 for 23. He is averaging 22.2 points and 3.2 assists per game in 19 games this season.
