He attempted to dump it last fall. James Corden reduced the price of his Los Angeles home from $22 million to $18 million after months of no offers. According to The Real Deal, the mansion sold for $17.1 million in cash in May. LeeAnn Akouri-Shan, Weijian Shan’s daughter, is the bargain hunter.
In 2017, Corden paid $10 million buying the mansion from “Modern Family” creator Steven Levitan. He lavishly renovated the house after purchasing it, which could have cost millions. The new mansion tax in Los Angeles adds more than $1 million to Corden’s closing costs, taxes, and broker commissions.
In Brentwood Park, a posh neighborhood, the former Corden home is hidden behind gates and a big hedge. The “New England transitional” was built in the 1990s and features seven bedrooms, eight baths, and over 8,000 square feet of living space, all furnished by Corden’s wife, interior designer Julia Corden.
Highlights include a fireplace-equipped living room, eat-in kitchen with marble countertops, a 20-seat movie theater, library, and family room with French doors to the gardens. The master suite has a terrace, a couch, and two bathrooms, one of which has hardwood floors and greenhouse-style shower and toilet stations.
This half-acre Brentwood Park property is famed for its lush East Coast landscape. Front and rear lawns are shaded by trees, and there are brick patios for outdoor dining, an in-ground trampoline, and a backyard pool. The home boasts an attached three-car garage with a Crestron home automation system that allows remote control of the lights, sound system, and security cameras.
Akouri-Shan can certainly afford any house she wants, yet she seemed to be drawn to this one. The high-hedged property backs up to Tracy Tutor’s $20 million mansion, which her older brother Bo Shan purchased in 2019.
Corden is leaving the “Late Late Show” to return to the United Kingdom, where he has a huge new project. A few months ago, the 44-year-old filed plans to demolish a decrepit house on his 44-acre British country estate and build a modern one to his specifications. Oxfordshire is located about 60 miles northwest of London.
