Garnacho sends ‘four-word message’ to Fernandes after Man United captain’s penalty miss against Chelsea

Scott McTominay’s brace helped Manchester United defeat Chelsea 2-1 at Old Trafford Wednesday night, but if the home team hadn’t been so wasteful in front of goal, they would have won easily.

Nine minutes into the match, after Enzo Fernandez had stamped on Antony in the Chelsea box, Red Devils captain Bruno Fernandes had an opportunity to give his team the lead from the penalty spot.

Rasmus Hojlund was unable to score off the rebound, though, as Blues goalkeeper Robert Sanchez stopped the Portuguese’s feeble attempt.

Alejandro Garnacho left Fernandes a four-word remark in the comments area of his Instagram post following the game, which was a reaction to both the outcome and his missed penalty.

With their ninth league victory of the year, Man United moved up to sixth position in the standings, three points clear of fourth-place Manchester City after 15 games. Man United has now gone undefeated against Chelsea in 12 Premier League encounters.

Although they were the superior team on Wednesday, if they are to salvage anything from the season, they will need to improve their finishing touch.

On Saturday, Man United takes on Bournemouth at Old Trafford and will be hoping for all three points, but in order to start winning games on a regular basis, they will need to improve their offensive output.

The next match is Bayern Munich, and in order to advance to the Champions League round of 16, they must win that match and hope that FC Copenhagen and Galatasaray draw.

They will be eliminated from Europe totally if they lose, therefore winning this weekend’s match against the Cherries can help them feel prepared for such an important game that will decide the season.

Although Bayern is the clear favorite going into the game, Erik ten Hag’s Red Devils can win against all odds, so he will be hoping his team shows up.
