Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat put up his best performance in a Manchester United shirt in Tuesday night’s 2-1 Premier League triumph over Chelsea.

The 27-year-old has had a difficult start to his Red Devils tenure. Under manager Erik ten Hag, he has been in and out of the starting lineup.

He was selected ahead of Kobbie Mainoo in the defensive midfield position yesterday, and he made an impression with a powerful performance against Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo, and Cole Palmer.

Amrabat played like his old self at Fiorentina, dominating proceedings in the center of the field. He had 62 touches and a passing accuracy of 92%.

In terms of defense, he won six duels and four tackles while winning 100% of his dribbles (2/2). During the game, the midfielder also recovered 11 balls.

Amrabat made one mistake that led to a goal, but he gained confidence as the game progressed and was outstanding in the second half.

It was not the ideal outing for the €30 million-rated star, but he looked assured with the ball at his feet and should now be a regular starter.

The Red Devils face Bournemouth in the Premier League this weekend, and they need to win again to gain momentum for the crucial matches ahead.

Following that, United will face a must-win match against Bayern Munich in the Champions League. Their hopes of progressing to the round of 16 are also contingent on Copenhagen and Galatasaray splitting the spoils.

Then comes a Merseyside league trip to face archrivals Liverpool. Erik ten Hag’s team will be looking to revenge their 7-0 thrashing at Anfield earlier this year.
