However, his second goal would not have been possible without Alejandro Garnacho’s perfect cross, his first assist of the season.

Every time he received the ball, he seemed like he was going to make something happen, driving toward goal, choosing the passes, his decision making was bang on throughout – perhaps with the exception of the reckless volley he attempted, but that’s understandable following his successful overhead kick last month.

Garnacho was praised by John O’Shea on MUTV, who observed: “Garnacho, some of the crosses rtonight were absolute class. He is going from strength to strength [He is] showing his creative side.”

Garnacho is developing as United’s strongest option on the left wing.

There is currently no disagreement regarding Manchester United’s strongest left-sided option. Alejandro Garnacho has beaten Marcus Rashford to the position.

Garnacho sprinted tirelessly throughout the game, putting Chelsea under strain. Rashford has been chastised for failing to do so.

Rasmus Hojlund and Antony joined Garnacho to push as a trio and cause problems for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Garnacho, who is still only 19, is barely scraping the surface of his potential. Ally McCoist said in an Amazon Prime commentary: “He’s committed, he’s direct, [and] he’ll get better with time.”

Garnacho’s intensity put Chelsea on edge and put them on the back foot from the first whistle. The teenager delivered a game-changing effort that the team desperately needed.
