Borussia Dortmund are keen on signing Jadon Sancho in hopes of helping him revive his career and form

Manchester United are considering all options in preparation for Jadon Sancho’s anticipated departure in January.

When the transfer market opens in a few weeks, the winger will be in his fourth month of being barred from United’s first-team and facilities. As of now, neither Sancho nor Erik ten Hag appear to be swallowing their pride, therefore all signs point to the player’s departure.

It is unclear whether Sancho will leave on loan or permanently. If the latter is the case, United will be fully aware that they will need to cut their losses on his price tag; they paid an eye-watering £73 million to sign him from Borussia Dortmund in 2021, and he has since returned only 12 goals and six assists in 82 games for the Reds.

It’s a far cry from the figures he put up in Germany – 50 goals and 64 assists in 137 appearances – which explains why Dortmund are willing to bring him back for another season.

Dortmund eyeing Sancho reunion

According to Sport BILD, Dortmund are interested in signing the 23-year-old in the hopes of reviving his career and form, but given their financial constraints even in the best of times, Dortmund would prefer a part-exchange deal in which Liverpool-linked Donyell Malen is sent to Old Trafford in exchange for Sancho.

Malen recently signed with SEG, whose other clients include Ten Hag and Rasmus Hojlund, in the hopes of achieving his long-term aim of moving to England.
