The manager and player had a major falling out in September after Ten Hag openly criticized the winger’s training efforts.

Sancho responded to the Dutchman on social media, alleging that he had been made a scapegoat and refusing to apologize for his remarks.

As a result, the England international has not appeared since, has been kept out of the first squad, and is forced to practice alone.

Some have suggested he could return, especially considering the Red Devils’ problems and concerns about Ten Hag’s future.

However, all indications lead to a January departure, with Juventus allegedly interested in signing the 23-year-old as well as fellow United exiles Raphael Varane and Donny van de Beek.

The entire saga has divided opinion, with some sources claiming that even United squad members disagree with Ten Hag’s tactics.

The manager has mostly declined to comment on the situation, although he recently opened up a little when asked if he would have done anything differently in regards to his handling of Sancho.

‘No, I would not do anything differently,’ he told United We Stand, an independent fanzine.

Ten Hag’s employment could be jeopardized given United’s uneven results and rumors that the players are losing faith in their manager, especially with Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s minority takeover on the horizon.

The post of United manager is always one of the most scrutinized in international football, and Ten Hag admitted that numerous close friends persuaded him to decline the offer.

‘I admired Sir Alex Ferguson’s teams, particularly the [1999 Champions League final] victory in Barcelona. It was motivating,’ he continued.

A large, successful club was built, but it has since declined in the last ten years.

“You can’t succeed in that job,” everyone told me. They said that it was impossible. Me? I was looking for a challenge. I knew it wouldn’t be easy, but it was such a fantastic club with a fantastic fans.

‘People either adore or despise Manchester United. This type of club appeals to me. Ajax was the same way. This is the most hardest task, but I enjoy a challenge.’
