Pundit discusses what the 24-year-old Liverpool man must accomplish if the Reds are to win the Premier League title

Tony Cascarino has maintained that one Liverpool player in particular must improve if the Reds are to win the Premier League this season.

Klopp labels Liverpool 'horrendous' before Salah-inspired comeback at Palace

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool came from behind to overcome Crystal Palace 2-1 at Selhurst Park on Saturday, with late goals from Mo Salah and Harvey Elliott turning the game on its head after Jean-Philippe Mateta put the hosts ahead from the penalty spot.

Darwin Nunez was named to the starting XI but had no influence on the game, and Cascarino has urged the 24-year-old to play for the Reds in the same way he does for Uruguay.

“He has to show up if Liverpool is to have a chance of winning the league.” He needs to be clinical and on the field to prove his worth. “I’m watching Darwin Nunez in the last few games right now, and his games are all over the place,” Cascarino told talkSPORT (via Rousing The Kop).

“His touch is off; he’s constantly running into space and getting caught offside.” He has more goals for Uruguay this season than Liverpool has in the Premier League, so we’d all like him.

“Be the Uruguayan Darwin Nunez, the player who plays for his national team, the player who can excel at a club where you’re in a goal-scoring forward line.” I just think he needs to do more for Liverpool to have a chance of winning the league.”

Our No. 9 has seven goals and seven assists this season across all competitions, which are quite good stats for this stage of the season, but he had a forgettable afternoon in the capital.

He was caught offside several times and never really got going, so it was no surprise to see him replaced with 15 minutes to play, despite the fact that we were losing 1-0.

The former Benfica man appears to have what it takes to flourish in the Premier League, such as scary pace and deft movement, but he frequently lacks calmness in front of goal.

However, we are optimistic that Klopp and his team can continue to develop the forward and that he will soon be firing on all cylinders.
