The veteran Uruguayan striker is leaving Brazilian club Gremio and joining the free agency pool. He has remained a prolific presence in South America, but he is also suffering from long-standing knee ailments that will end his career in the near future. Another trip to America with former Barcelona teammate Messi is still being discussed.

When asked if he will join Messi in the United States, Suarez told Teledoce, “Many things can be said, many teams have been named, and we have to live with that.” I’ll consult with my lawyer to determine what options are available. I refused to learn anything till the Brasileirao was ended. Inter Miami is a possibility. I have the best player in the world and a fantastic friend with whom we have constantly discussed future plans, but I still need to rest before making a decision.”

When questioned further on the possibility of him coming to MLS now that his year-long tenure at Gremio has come to an end, the 36-year-old ex-Liverpool and Ajax frontman added: “After drawing conclusions from an incredible 12 months, now it’s time to relax a little.” What I want to do now is spend time with my children and wife. We had an extremely hectic year. They deserve to be with me, and I need to be with them. There were numerous excursions and obligations. I’ll investigate the options.”

Suarez scored 29 goals in 54 games for Gremio, demonstrating that he still understands how to find the back of the net. Inter Miami is willing to invest in such qualities in an agreement that keeps them inside the MLS salary cap as Messi and company pursue more big titles in 2024.
